Vitamin D3 - single, intra-muscular injection.  Can also be an add-on into any of the IV Hydration Therapies - unless otherwise included.  Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones and protecting against osteoporosis as it is required for the absorption of calcium from the foods we eat. It is also used by the body to boost your immunity and support brain activity by protecting nerve cells from damage. It is a widely-used component in the body; although it is difficult to gain from your diet as very few foods contain usable forms. It is normally produced in the skin as the body is exposed to sunlight. Living in Hawaii, one would think that we should all be producing a lot of Vitamin D; however, use of sunscreen, our work environment, being indoors or driving in our cars all reduce direct sunlight exposure. Supplementation of Vitamin D can provide the body the right amount to do the job. A single injection can often correct any deficiency; however exact dosing and regimen will be discussed at the time of an appointment. Having a blood test for Vitamin D level prior to supplementation can be very helpful.
